    The Fragrance

    Inspired by a Touareg legend about the Sahara. The legend says that once the land was an immense garden populated by tall palm trees, fragrant jasmines and nightingales whose song flooded the green landscape with a cascade of melody. At that time all men were frank and loyal to the point that the word “lie” did not exist. But one day someone told a lie: a small lie of course, but that was the end of the miracle. Gods then gathered all men together and said to them: “Every time you lie, I will throw a grain of sand on the world.” The men shrugged their shoulders and all started laughing: “A grain of sand!… We can’t even see it.” And yet from lie to lie, little by little the Sahara was formed, with here and there some traces of the ancient Eden, because not all men lie.

    The Brand

    In the beginning is a perfume house based in France and founded by Philippe Constantin in 2013. From the outset, all the perfumes it offers are made with an emphasis on craftsmanship, originality and quality.

    A few years later, he decided to create MAISON INCENS in honour of his father and the manuscript he bequeathed to his son: a compilation of leather paintings and scented stories. Philippe's creations are the olfactory signature of his father's book.

    The collections he creates are inspired by an unknown civilisation called ARTGANIS, whose communication codes are based on fragrances and whose life is governed by smells.
