With this confidence, Dalia Izem opens the doors to her world. Now a perfumer with Givaudan, she has established herself as a sensitive, resolutely modern voice in contemporary perfumery. Awarded Perfumer of the Year at the Beautyworld Middle East Awards 2022, she cultivates a subtle, emotional vision of perfume, at the crossroads of Mediterranean and Oriental cultures.

First scents: between the Mediterranean and spice flowers

Born in a country bathed in light and aromas, young Dalia grew up among spice markets, citrus gardens and ceremonies where incense drew sacred wisps in the air. From an early age, her senses were awakened by the olfactory richness of her surroundings. " I think the smell of roasted cumin was my first olfactory shock ", she says with a smile.

It was at ISIPCA, the benchmark school in Versailles, that she honed her instincts and developed rigorous technical know-how. But already, for her, perfume is not a chemical formula - it's a story, a memory. An emotion written in the air

A grammar of emotions: the Dalia Izem style

Dalia Izem has her own way of translating intimacy into fragrance. Neither minimalist nor excessively baroque, her style plays on fluid contrasts. She favors sensual yet familiar raw materials: rose with woody facets, cinnamon like a warm caress, musk delicately powdered.

In Rose Cannelle (La Closerie des Parfums), she juxtaposes the tenderness of a velvety rose with the vivacity of a golden spice, like hot tea drunk on a terrace in the early morning. Iris Porcelana (Ex Nihilo), meanwhile, evokes the fragile delicacy of antique porcelain, yet retains an enveloping, reassuring warmth. In Whiplash, one of her latest opuses, she explores an electrifying trail, where olfactory tension becomes almost narrative.
