The MARLOU Brand

Marlou explores the olfactory presence of beings in our society by creating a dialogue between the scented liquid and its medium: the human body. 

The brand works with so-called animalic notess, scents that are close to those of the body, shaping olfactory personalities. They arouse intense emotions, because they are part of our intimacy.

Marlou exists to create emotions, to surprise, move and cherish. Their singular scents form an olfactory poetry, interpreting the smells of life. Some of their fragrance accords: the soft scent of a scalp, the carnal imprint left on a worn garment, facets of feline fur, soft perspiration and intimate notes.

The Story of MARLOU

Created in 2016 by Briac Frocrain, MARLOU was born from the desire to create a space for reflection on the olfactory presence of the body in society.

Briac advocates for a modest, artisanal structure fully dedicated to creation. A free form of creation, keeping its distance from market trends.

MARLOU developed slowly, at its own pace, until it gained recognition from the press and industry professionals. In recent years, it has been featured in Der Spiegel, Dazed and Confused, and the New York Times as a unique voice in alternative and artistic perfumery.

The Founder

The work of Briac Frocrain has long involved the human body—its social identity, its ways of communication, and its modes of representation. Initially through the study of architecture, then through fashion design and creation, he was eventually drawn away from the visual sphere toward a more intimate proximity with the skin. At that point, passions from his childhood began to return to him: carefree culinary and botanical experiments, free from social expectations—activities pursued spontaneously and instinctively. That same childlike freedom now accompanies his exploration of scent and perfume.
